We indicated earlier in the section labeled “Company Overview” that you were giving the reader a “bird’s eye view” of the overall company. Here is your chance to elaborate on the details. Many business plans put this whole section right after the executive summary. Nothing really wrong with doing it that way, it’s just that too much detail bogs down the flow of the business plan and makes it more likely that the reader will put it down before they get into the products, services and marketing sections. It is our goal to entice the reader to continue reading the complete plan and to get the most critical information as quickly in the reading as possible. Now that’s not to say that this section is boring, it’s just that it is less critical to the reader understanding what the business has to offer.
